Why these checks matter

MX record
Indicates where incoming email should be delivered. Without it, no one can send you email.
SPF record
Specifies which servers are allowed to send email on behalf of your domain. Prevents email spoofing.
DKIM
A digital signature added to outgoing emails. Proves the message wasn't altered in transit.
DMARC
Combines SPF and DKIM to define a policy for handling suspicious emails. Required by Gmail and Yahoo since 2024.
Autodiscover
Allows email clients (Outlook, Apple Mail) to configure automatically using just your email address and password.
IMAP/POP/SMTP
Standard protocols for sending and receiving email. Useful for diagnosing configuration issues with mail clients.

2024 changes: Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft

Since early 2024, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft apply stricter rules for bulk senders. Domains sending more than 5,000 emails/day to Gmail addresses must have valid SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, and an unsubscribe link. Without these, emails are rejected or land directly in spam. Even for small senders, having these records greatly improves deliverability.
